If you haven’t yet heard of the Chelsea business DB Photography, it’s likely you will soon.

D.B. stands for Dominic Brodeur, the 14-year-old Chelsea High School freshman who started his own photography business in August 2025. He calls photography, “one of my greatest passions and hobbies.”

“I love being able to capture the feeling of a moment in a picture, and it is something that hooked me to this hobby,” said Dominic. “To me, that’s what makes photography so beautiful—being able to attach a feeling to a picture.”

Dominic is a self-taught photographer, who credits his mom, Rosemarie Brodeur, with giving him guidance. He plans to take a few photography-related classes at CHS.

His favorite subject to photograph is sports.

“My photography hobby is also a small business, mainly focused on providing students photos for their sports games,” he said, adding that he will be upgrading his photography equipment in the months to come.

Dominic will be taking a lot of photos during basketball and wrestling season and says his favorite sports to photograph are football and hockey. He enjoys landscape and macro photography as well.

As far as balancing his time between academia and photography, Dominic says it hasn’t been a challenge yet.

“Photography has been one of my most passionate hobbies, but I haven’t let it interfere with my academic performance,” he said.

At this point, he doesn’t see photography as a viable profession.

“I’m more interested in pursuing psychology as a career, he said. “Also, the financial stability for a professional photographer is, unfortunately, subpar. I don’t plan on stopping photography anytime soon, and I’m glad I have so much fun with it. What’s good for me right now is doing photography as a little side hustle to save up some money for things like college and a car.”
