SRSLY is gearing up for its sixth annual New Year’s Eve party – and invites you to come join the fun on Tuesday, Dec. 31, from 4- 8 p.m., at Beach Middle School.

More than 1,700 people have attended the SRSLY New Year’s Eve Party during the past five years. This year’s family-friendly event promises to be bigger and better than ever, as SRSLY has a great line-up of performers and extended the invitation to neighboring communities.

The event is free and open to all.

Coalition members are planning games and activities that will appeal to all ages, including team games and competitions (eating contests, relay races, card games and more), face painting, video games on classroom Smart Boards, cookie-decorating, live music, swimming, basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, and a chili cook-off.

The first 10 entrants in the chili cook-off will receive a $10 gift card to Polly’s Country Market to purchase supplies. To sign up for the chili cook-off, contact Jesse Kauffman at [email protected] or call 734-593-5283.

Door prizes will be awarded every half hour, which will include gift certificates to local restaurants and businesses, board games, Jiffy mixes, and free passes to bowling. Pizza, pop, and other refreshments will be available for a suggested donation of $1 per item.

“Our goal is to provide a fun and safe environment in which kids and parents can celebrate together,” said Reiley Curran, SRSLY director.

The party is free, thanks to the generosity of the following organizations: Biggby Coffee, Chelsea District Library, Chelsea Lanes, Chelsea Milling Co., Chelsea Orthodontics, Chelsea Rotary Club, Chelsea Teddy Bear Factory, Chelsea Wellness Center, Cole Funeral Chapel, Jack & Son Barber Shop, Jet’s Pizza, Manchester Voices, Meijer, Mike’s Deli, Gary Reed’s Barbering, Vogels & Fosters, Zou Zou’s, and Raymond Howe DDS, and the SRSLY Coalition, which is funded by a Drug Free Communities grant from the Office of National Drug Control Policy.

Organizations that would like to support the event can do so by donating prizes, refreshments, supplies for activities, or financial gifts to cover the cost of the event.

“You can tell local companies care about this community when they sponsor such a fun and safe event,” said Sara Wild, SRSLY member.

SRSLY is seeking volunteers to help out for an hour during the event. To sign up to volunteer as a family visit the event’s Volunteer Spot here or for more information click here.
