As the year comes to a close, Faith in Action (FIA) celebrates its ongoing commitment to serving the community of western Washtenaw County.
During the past year, FIA has expanded its reach, providing critical support to families and individuals in need through a variety of programs and services.
A Year of Service and Growth
In 2024, FIA strengthened its partnership with Avalon Housing to expand Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) services at housing complexes in Chelsea and Dexter. With an increasing demand for affordable housing and wraparound services, FIA ramped up support efforts, focusing on personalized case management and resource navigation. The dedicated team of three full-time case managers works closely with tenants, helping them achieve long-term stability through access to financial assistance, mental health support, and community resources.
Additionally, FIA continues to bolster its housing assistance fund to ensure housing security for vulnerable residents. This fund provides critical financial support to prevent evictions, assist with move-in costs, and cover essential housing-related expenses, helping families maintain safe and stable homes.
FIA also made strides in food security initiatives, distributing thousands of pounds of food through its pantry and emergency food boxes. Partnerships with Food Gatherers and other local organizations have been pivotal in meeting the growing demand for food assistance.
In addition to housing and food support, FIA’s free medical loan closet, financial assistance programs, benefits navigation, and seasonal sponsorship efforts have provided essential support to residents. These services, along with access to donated clothing, household goods, and a pet pantry, have helped hundreds of families maintain stability during challenging times.
Looking to the Future
As FIA prepares for 2025, it remains committed to strengthening services and exploring new ways to support the community. One of the organization’s goals is to gain access to the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) to better analyze service delivery and track resident outcomes.
“Faith in Action is grateful for the support of our community partners, volunteers, and donors,” said Jazmine Coburn, associate director of FIA. “Their generosity allows us to continue providing comprehensive services that make a real difference in people’s lives.”
