Feb. 1: public hearing planned for Chelsea Milling Company $24.356 million tax abatement request

JiffyA Feb. 1, 2016 public hearing date for Chelsea Milling Company’s request for an about $24.356 million Industrial Facilities Tax (IFT) exemption was approved at a recent Chelsea City Council meeting.

The request is for about $9.167 million in real property and about $15.188 in personal property for the company’s new mix tower project.

Once occupied, the new construction is expected to retain 10 jobs and create 9 new jobs.

The mix tower construction at 201 North St. “is going well and on target” according to John Powers who was in attendance at the Dec. 14 council meeting.

The tax abatement qualifies for 5 years according to the city’s evaluation requirements.
