February Beach Middle School Peacemaker Award Winners Announced

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Adam Schilt for the information in this story.)

Beach Middle School (BMS) recently announced the winners of the February Peacemaker Award. The Peacemaker Award is a collaboration between BMS and the Rotary Club of Chelsea that honors one student in each grade every month, nominated by peers and/or staff, who spreads peace, kindness, and an inclusive mindset in our school.

At the end of the year, one “overall” winner will be chosen among the winners from 8th grade and 6th/7th grades and will receive a cash scholarship prize.

There were more than 100 thoughtful nominations from students and staff for this award in the month of February. We asked each person who nominated a student to write a detailed description of why this student deserves the award. A selection panel reviewed the nominations without viewing student names and did the truly impossible task of deciding the deserving winners for the month.

These three students represent the first ever winners of the award at Beach:

6th Grade: Joe Buehler

7th Grade: Jake Merkel

8th Grade: Jonny Bendena

The next round of awards will be presented at grade-level community meetings in the month of March.
