Festival of Tables a room filled with creativity

The Second Annual Festival of Tables, which took place Saturday, Feb. 2, was an event that you had to see in person to really appreciate.

Chairman Sharon Pignanelli said it was an event that’s “not to be missed; it’s creativity on steroids,” and her comments were right on the money.

She described the level of detail to carry out a theme and the addition of five new tables — from 13 tables last year to 18 tables this year. And, they were decorated by adults and youth; individuals and organizations.

The key to this fundraiser is “fun,” she said, as the decorators were putting the final touches on their gorgeous tables before the crowds arrived to vote on their favorite or favorites.

Here’s a list of the table designers:

“House Divided” by Gary Kistka and Frank Pignanelli

“Material Girls” by Barbara Brown and Melanie Hopp

“Children’s Christmas Bazaar” by Sherri Plank and Lexa O’Brian

“I’d like to thank Father Bill, St. Mary Church, the senior center for organizing it and the community for helping us out,” said Jim Randolph, president of the senior center board.

About 145 people bought tickets to the lunch and fundraiser – it was sold out before the event, Pignanelli said.

“People are already planning their tables for next year,” she said, adding that the senior center may increase the number of tables in 2014.

The 2014 Festival of Tables is expected to take place prior to the start of Lent, Pignanelli said, but an exact Saturday date has not been chosen.
