Chelsea High School celebrated its graduating seniors on Friday, May 31, with a special twist.
This year’s Senior Awards Night featured the inaugural presentation of the Peacemaker Award, honoring a student who embodies the fight against bullying.
The award recognizes a senior who has consistently promoted a safe and inclusive environment at Chelsea High. This student, chosen by staff and administration, has used their words, actions, and deeds to stand up to bullying and create a culture of kindness. The honoree is a true champion for those targeted by bullies.
This year’s well-deserved recipient is Gabriella Burgess. Gabriella’s commitment to fostering a positive school environment earned her a $500 check and a plaque commemorating her achievement as Chelsea’s first Peacemaker.
The award and plaque were generously donated by the Chelsea Masons at Olive Lodge #156. Recognizing the importance of anti-bullying efforts, the entire Lodge enthusiastically supported this new tradition, making the inaugural event truly special.
Dr. Nick Angel, principal of the high school, presiding over the ceremony, took a moment to highlight the significance of the award and Gabriella’s positive impact on the student body.
The Chelsea Masons at Olive Lodge have pledged their ongoing support for the Peacemaker Award, demonstrating their solidarity with students and administration in the fight against bullying.
Congratulations once again, Gabriella, and best wishes for continued success in your studies.
