The Chelsea girls track and field team participated in the Saline Spring Preview Meet at U of M’s indoor track and no team scores were kept.
However, individuals and relays medaled to six places. We competed with relays and individuals from Ann Arbor Pioneer, Skyline, Saline, Plymouth, Walled Lake, and Grand Blanc. We had a number of standout performances from individuals and relays. A good start to our season.
Our pole vaulters, Christian Schultz (10’6″) and Jenna Gilecek (8’6″ – a PR), took 2nd and 6th place, respectively.
Karana Wickens took 8th place in the 1600m run with a time of 5:38.
In the 60m dash, Kaehla Manly took 7th with a time of 8.56.
Sydney Matusik took 2nd place in the 400m dash with a time of 63.49.
Our 4x800m relay comprised of Taylor Freyre, Jacqueline Taylor, Allie Hughes, and Karana Wickens took 6th place with a time of 10:57.67.
Our 4x200m relay comprised of Sydney Matusik, Kaehla Manly, Hannah Almhiemid, and Emily Morals place 2nd at the meet with a time of 1:54.25.
Also, Hannah Almiemid placed 4th in the 60m hurdles with a time of 10.11 (a PR).
We host Tecumseh on April 12 and look forward to the start of our outdoor season.
