(Chelsea Update would like to thank coach Joe Ewald for the information in this story.)

The Chelsea golf team has been playing in many tournaments and matches in the last few weeks showing the rest of the conference the team is Bulldog strong.

On May 4, the team played in the New Boston Huron Invitational and finished third and fourth with two teams.

“We didn’t win the tournament, but we showed incredible depth, as we brought two teams and finished 3rd and 4th out of 14 teams,” said coach Joe Ewald.

The gold team shot 332, led by Lucas Derosia and Sam Yax, shooting a pair of 79s.  Carter Derosia was next with an 86, and Brendan Doyle had an 88.

The blue team was close behind with a score of 335. Scoring for the blue was Erik Koseck with an 82, Tyler Emmert and Wes Hansen both shot 83, and Elijah King shot 87.

On Monday, May 7, the team played in a 24-team event at the beautiful Dearborn Country Club, and came away with an 8th place finish.

“It wasn’t our best finish of the year, but there were a lot of big schools, and some really good teams in the tournament,” Ewald said.

“The Bulldogs shot a score of 340, led once again by Lucas Derosia with a 79.  Tyler Emmert was next with an 83, Brendan Doyle shot 87, and Elijah King had a 91.

The Bulldogs finished up league play last week with a 161-173 win over Adrian at Lenawee Country Club. The scoring was highlighted by Lucas DeRosia with a 34 and Tyler Emmert with a 39.

Brendan Doyle and Elijah King rounded out the scoring with a pair of 44s.

The Bulldogs will carry an SEC record of 9-2 (undefeated in white division matches) into the post season conference tournament on Tuesday, May 22  at the Polo Fields in Ann Arbor.
