If you’d like to participate in the Memorial Day Parade in downtown Chelsea on May 28, Ray Tuck would love your help.

Tuck needs 50 people to hold 50 flag poles. He welcomes both Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and anyone else interested.

“I want to let all of the veterans and military personnel know that this special event is to honor them for their service and sacrifice,” said Tuck. “I designed this to reach as many veterans as possible.”

Tuck calls his parade event the 50-flag salute. The volunteers will hold flags on the sidelines of the parade, and need to arrive by 9 a.m. on East Middle Street between East Street and the cemetery.

He asks that anyone interested “dress in the spirit of the day”.

Tuck describes the display of flags as “a two by two tilt in a domino effect down with all 25 flags on both sides of the street.”

Volunteers will stand at the parade holding a 10-foot flag pole for all to see when they walk by. Tuck will also have hundreds of hand held flags that need to be passed out that day.

Tuck, who lives in Ypsilanti, visits different cities on Memorial Day and the Fourth of July to pay tribute to veterans.
