(Chelsea Update would like to thank Peggy Cole for the information in this story.)

The third annual Infiniti Coaches’ Charity Challenge online contest begins today and UM basketball coach John Beilein has chosen St. Louis Center as his charity of choice.

Help him celebrate the team’s Sunday afternoon victory over Northwestern and register and vote in this online contest sponsored by Infiniti that pits 48 university men’s basketball coaches from around the country against one another in an effort to help them win money for their charities of choice.

The top prize is $100,000.

Voting begins today and you can vote daily for the next three weeks and help Beilein advance to the second round.

To register and for information more please go to www.ESPN.com or go to www.stlouiscenter.org  and click on the link about the Charity Challenge to vote. (Please be patient as we work our way through the snow tomorrow to make those links on the ST. Louis Center website go live.)

This year’s contest will be run a little bit differently; it will be a 10-week bracket style competition.

A charity wins a certain amount of money based on how far its coach advances in the competition.  There are four rounds.

Round 1 starts tomorrow and runs for 3 weeks.

If Beilein advances, St. Louis Center wins $1,000.

For each round won by a coach, the non-profits’ earnings increase.  The coach who wins the final round wins $100,000 for his charity.
