Here’s what’s happening in the Kidz zone during Sounds and Sight Festival

Sounds and Sights Festival 018

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bridget Favre for the information in this story.)

One of the most popular features of Chelsea’s Sounds and Sights Festival is the KidZone entertainment and activities area.

The KidZone, sponsored by Chelsea Teddy Bear Company, will offer activities for children of all ages on both Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Located behind the Clocktower complex, kids will enjoy free bounce houses, matchbox car derby tracks, Chelsea Fire department demonstrations, bubble blowing stations, Chelsea Lanes portable bowling alley, and more.

On Friday, July 25, the festivities kick off with ATA Martial Arts instructors and students demonstrating safety and Taekwondo skills from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Next, Guy Louis performs one of his renowned family fun concerts. Louis is known for creating exciting community events that are appropriate and entertaining for all ages, grandparents to toddlers and everyone in between.  A seasoned veteran with over 20 years of experience, expect to hear world-class music that will entertain adults fully, while engaging children in dancing and general merriment.

At noon, Jason Abbott’s action packed family magic show takes the stage. A professional magician for over 10 years, Abbott’s show blends family friendly comedy with wacky magic.

Closing the fun-filled day is an appearance from Detroit Tiger’s “Paws” and Casey at Bat story from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The Chelsea Teddy Bear Company will be giving away free tiger plush key chains to the first 20 kids.

On Saturday, July 26, kids are invited to dress their pets in theme costumes and participate in the annual Pet Parade.  Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the Chelsea Farmer’s Supply, located across from the Chelsea Train Depot, and the parade begins at 10 a.m.  For more information on the pet parade call 475-1777.

And they're off ... let the Pet Parade begin.

Throughout Saturday, the KidZone continues with more family activities and shows. The Chamberlin Petting Zoo will have a variety of animals on display as well as llama, unicorn and pony rides from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

At 1 p.m., Bacchanal Promotions perform their Top Hat Show. Combining high energy fire arts, spectacular circus acts, mind-bending illusions and seemingly impossible sideshow demonstrations, the Top Hat Side Show stretches the imagination, and inspires audiences to question the limits of human achievement.

Saturday’s KidZone wraps up with a Princess Elsa meet and greet at the Chelsea Teddy Bear Company from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

In addition to the stage performers, there will be appearances throughout the day by the Chelsea Teddy Bear Company Mascots. Inside the Chelsea Teddy Bear Company, free popcorn and slushy’s will be offered and free factory tours are available at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
