Chelsea High School students were given a 45-minute sneak peak of the Chelsea High School Theater Guild’s presentation of “How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying,” Wednesday afternoon.

The actual performances will take place Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16-17 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 18 at 3 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

Tickets are on sale at Chelsea Pharmacy until 3 p.m. Friday, and then they will be available at the high school.

Director Carrie Jay Sayer said the “family-friendly” musical has reserved seating. In fact, she said, 95 tickets have already been sold.

The play centers on a young window-cleaner, J. Pierrepont Finch, who begins a meteoric rise from the mail room to vice president of advertising at the World-Wide Wicket Company.

Sayer said she chose the play because it offered a number of good parts for the high school actors, and she’s been blogging about the play here and additional information can also be found here.

“A lot of people have heard of it,” she said of the play Wednesday afternoon, “But they haven’t seen it.”

The play has gained popularity with younger audiences as Daniel Radcliffe, Darren Criss, Matthew Broderick and Nick Jonas have played “Finch” in Broadway versions.

Sayer said previously that “The music is accessible, unique, on the jazzy side of musical theater fare, and memorable while the story is great and keeps you guessing all the way to the end.”

Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for students and seniors.
