Finalizing a plan for 2025 dominated the discussion at the Chelsea Human Rights Commission’s March 5 meeting.
Approving an annual plan and presenting it to Chelsea City Council is a mandate for the HRC. The plan is an outline of what the commission hopes to do during the year.
Key points so far for the 2025 plan include reviewing Chelsea’s Non-Discrimination Ordinance and bringing any proposed changes to city council, exploring relationships with local stakeholders and identifying gaps, and participating in local events such as the Chelsea Expo and Chelsea Farmers Market as well as carrying out observances such as MLK Day, Gay Pride Month, and Civility Month.
HRC members chose officers at the March 5 meeting. Mary Keaton will continue as president; Jacquelyn Bullerman will be the vice president; Tara Smalley will be the secretary.
The next regularly scheduled HRC meeting will be on April 2 at 7 p.m.
