The Beach Middle School pool was filled with Chelsea Cub Scouts from Packs 435 and 455 on Saturday, April 26.

“There are about 40 kids at the party,” said Kristi Fetyko, treasurer and den leader with Pack 455.

Kristi Ledbetter, committee chair, also from Pack 455, said the swim party was a way to reward” the scouts because they work hard all year.”

Julie Sigda, a Red Cross volunteer, organized a number of different fun swimming events, and said that the Red Cross Swim-A-Cross pledges provide a number of valuable services.

For instance, a $40 pledge provides six warm, cozy blankets that protect children and families from the cold during a disaster, or a $200 donation provides swim lessons for 20 girls and boys.
