This year, as is typically the case, the almost 250 chicken dinners sold out at the annual July 4 chicken BBQ at American Legion Post 31 by mid-afternoon with dinners also being donated to the St. Louis Center.
Organized by the Sons of the American Legion, cooking begins early in the morning and the first take-out meal was in the hands of that lucky first person in line by 11 a.m.
New Post Commander Keith Burba thanked the community for its continued support of this fundraising event, which allows the Legion to assist local veterans.
“We are grateful and couldn’t do this without the support of the local community,” he said.
The Legion looks forward to seeing everyone next Fourth of July.
