Spring means golf season is underway, and a Dexter Township golf course is offering a special membership deal.

The Inverness Country Club, a private club located at 13893 North Territorial Road, is offering a discounted initiation fee if you join before June 1. According to Adam Tillman, an Inverness Country Club board member, the one-time fee is $500, more than half off the regular initiation fee.

The club’s annual dues are $900 and provide families with unlimited golf for the entire household, a challenging 9-hole course, a junior golf program in the summer, licensed PGA professional instructors, discounted clubhouse rentals, as well as access to a tennis court and basketball court, and leagues, social events, and tournaments.

The Inverness Country Club is offering an open house on Saturday, May 13, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. when tours of the course will be available. If you can’t make it, schedule a tour by contacting the ProShop at 734-475-8746.

The club, which currently has 300 active members, was founded by Doug Fraser in 1926 and is one of the oldest courses in Michigan. The North Lake area was considered a country getaway at that time for people living in the Detroit metropolitan area and continues to be a favorite getaway spot.

Tee times and clubhouse rentals are easy to obtain because the club only reserves tee times for regularly scheduled events such as leagues between Memorial Day and Labor Day on weekend mornings between 7 and 10 a.m.
