Jan. 13: Chelsea Lions Club invites interested residents to informational meeting

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Antoinette Conway for the information in this story.)

The Chelsea Lions Club closed last year after 42 years serving the Chelsea community, but support from the community is growing to revamp and re-launch a local club.

Everyone interested is invited to attend an informational meeting at the Chelsea District Library on Monday, Jan. 13th at 6:30 p.m. in the McKune Room.

Lions Clubs International is the largest global service organization in the world with more than 1.4 million active members in more than 200 countries. There is no religious or political affiliation and those involved share a desire to help others in need within their local community and beyond.

The organization empowers volunteers to serve others via humanitarian efforts, assists individuals with visual impairments, provides compassion to those affected by childhood cancer, raises awareness about diabetes prevention, helps to protect our environment, encourages peace, and promotes international partnerships.

In the spirit of partnership, we encourage individuals and families (children are welcome) to join us so we can better understand the interests and needs of Chelsea residents.

We hope this discussion will help to revitalize sufficient interest to support a healthy, local club and continue the momentum of this group for decades to come.
