(Chelsea Update would like to thank Denise Cugliari and Kathy Carter for the information in this story.)
On Friday, Jan. 17, enjoy a spaghetti dinner from 5-7 p.m. at Chelsea First United Methodist Church and stay for the free concert at 7:30 p.m. featuring the Double Ring handbell duo of Russell and Sylvia Miller from Boerne, Texas.
The dinner will include spaghetti with choice of sauce (meat or meatless), salad, bread, and beverage, plus brownies or cookies.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $3 for kids and available at the church office or at the door. All funds from the dinner will go to support the six-city tour “We Shall Go out with Joy” the Accidentals Handbell Choir is doing in April.
The Accidentals is a youth handbell choir from the church who will travel to Florida over spring break to perform along the way and to do several days of mission projects in Sarasota. This 12-member group plays throughout the year at the church, but this is their first tour.
A special Chelsea performance is planned for Feb. 9.
Immediately after the dinner, the CFUMC Free Concert Series features its fourth performance for this year with Double Ring, Russell and Sylvia Miller on handbells. Local musicians Cynthia Standefer on flute and Alex Anest on guitar will join them.
This 7:30 p.m. concert is free and everyone is invited.
The Millers are from Boerne, Texas, where he is Minister of Music and Worship at the First United Methodist Church. Both Russell and Sylvia teach full studios of piano, in addition to their other musical work. They will perform using a full five octaves of bells—yes, two people playing five octaves.
For more information about the dinner or the concert, contact the church office at 475-8119.
