Chelsea Community Kitchen will be offering its After School Kids Cooking Program this winter from Jan. 30 through March 8.

Kids in grades 1-6 will learn to make healthier versions of warm winter classic meals and how to prepare great tasting side dishes in CCK’s six-week series of after school classes.

Classes are offered for grades 1-3 and 4-6 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and will again meet after school at the Beach Middle School Food Lab. Students will gain hands on experience working in small groups of two to four to prepare fun new recipes and learn new cooking techniques.

This is the third year Chelsea Community Kitchen has offered its popular after school cooking program.

Students focus on measurement techniques, food safety procedures, how to follow recipes, and acquire confidence in the kitchen. Our instructor, Judy Radant, has taught youth and adult cooking classes for several years. She is a chef and also the instructor for CCK’s ServSafe Manager and Food Handler courses.

CCK is also searching for volunteer teachers aids to help with facilitation, so please contact us if you would like to be involved. Registration for the six-week cooking camp is $100, but there are scholarships available.

Visit www.chelseacommunitykitchen.org for more information and to register. Or, email our Program Coordinator, Michelle Craig, at [email protected] or call and leave a message at 201-913-8604.

This program is made possible with funding from Whole Foods Market and generous volunteer support of the Chelsea community.
