One of the most popular features of Chelsea’s Sounds and Sights Festival is the KidZone entertainment and activities area. The KidZone, sponsored by Ballet Chelsea, will offer activities for children of all ages on both Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Located behind the Clocktower complex, kids will enjoy free bounce houses, children’s entertainers, sporting activities, and more.
On Friday, July 24, the festivities kick off with ATA Martial Arts instructors and students demonstrating safety and Taekwondo skills from 10-11 a.m.
Next, comedian-magician Chris Linn performs one of his renowned show, “Cool Tricks and Funny Stuff Magic”. The show features lots of age appropriate humor, amazing magical moments, and plenty of exciting audience participation to fill the audience with smiles. The colorful props and Chris’ zany personality will guarantee this will be the most talked about program of the summer.
At noon there will be an interactive puppet show telling the story of “Three Billy Goats Gruff.” Spectators will be drawn into the play and asked to become active participants.
After the show, wax artists will help children dip their hands into melted wax, creating a memorable keepsake.
On Saturday, July 25, kids are invited to dress their pets in theme costumes and participate in the annual Pet Parade. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the Chelsea Farmers Supply, located across from the Chelsea Train Depot, and the parade begins at 10 a.m. For more information on the pet parade call 475-1777.
Throughout Saturday, the KidZone continues with more family activities and shows. Ballet Chelsea performs from 11 a.m. to noon, showcasing a variety of dance styles.
At noon, spectators are invited to participate in “Kevin’s Interactive Music Concert.”
Saturday’s KidZone wraps up with “Nelson’s Wildlife Safari” from 1-2 p.m. The Wildlife Safari Company specialize in exciting, hands-on wildlife themed shows that promote safe, fun, and positive interactions with living creatures such as snakes, birds and reptiles.
In addition to the stage performers, there will be bounce houses, Chelsea Area Fire Authority demonstrations, Ceramics Clayland, bubble blowing stations, and the Chelsea Lanes portable bowling alley.
