July 27-28: Sounds and Sights Festival Kidzone

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bridget Favre of D and B Strategic Marketing for the information in this story.)

One of the most popular features of Chelsea’s Sounds and Sights Festival is the KidZone entertainment and activities area.

The KidZone, sponsored by Ann Arbor Pediatric Dentists and Rainbow Child Care Center, will offer activities for children of all ages on both Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Located behind the Clocktower complex, kids enjoy free bounce houses, children’s entertainers, sporting activities, and more.

On Friday, July 27, the Chelsea District Library will be on site 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with summer fun and prizes for all ages.  Under the Kidzone tent, event festivities kick off with ATA Martial Arts instructors and students demonstrating safety and Taekwondo skills at 10 a.m.

Next, join singer and song writer Kevin Devine for some interactive music fun at 11 a.m. He will have the kids singing and dancing and trying out some instruments.

At 1 p.m., let the games begin with Coach Jeremy.

The Pet Parade kicks off events on Saturday, July 28 at 10 a.m. This year’s parade theme, Mythical Creatures, promises an unforgettable opportunity for pets and their owners to strut their stuff downtown.

Participants should plan to arrive at Chelsea Farmers Supply, located across from the railroad tracks at 122 Jackson St., between 9-9:40 a.m. to check-in and get lined up for the parade which starts at 10 a.m.

For further information on the pet parade call H.K. at Chelsea Farmers Supply 734-475-1777

Under the KidZone tent at 11 a.m., Tim Salisbury performs family-friendly comedy and juggling tricks.

At 12:30 p.m. Magician Jason Abbot takes the stage with tricks that amaze all ages.

The 7th annual Sounds and Sights Chalk Art Contest also takes place Saturday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. under the iconic Chelsea Clocktower, adjacent to the Kidzone. Walkie Chalk will provide chalk and will onsite demonstrating chalk art techniques.

In addition to the stage performers, the KidZone is filled with activities for kids of all ages, including:  bounce houses, Chelsea Are Fire Authority demonstrations, Ceramics Clayland crafts, Chelsea Children’s Co-op Preschool’s duck pond, Chelsea Lanes games, and the giant Main Street Church Plinko game.
