June 11: Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights entertainment

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bridget Favre for the information in this story and Alan Scafuri for the slideshow from last week’s opening night.)

Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights, presented by Golling Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Chelsea, continues its free summer concert series Thursday, June 11 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Professional artists perform at 11 staged areas located throughout downtown Chelsea featuring music, dance, comedy, and family entertainment.

The diverse music lineup celebrates the concert series 11th anniversary and includes Indie Alt Rockers, Cold Tone Harvest, at the South Street stage and Americana folk artists, Annie and Rod Capps, at East Middle Street. Chelsea-based rock band, Liquid Plasma, will be at the Glazier Building Stage, and blues artists, The Bluesmatics, perform at the Clocktower Gazebo.

Adult contemporary musician Bob Pogue takes the stage at The Chelsea Alehouse Brewery.  Singer-songwriter Mike Vial will be performing contemporary folk pop at the East Alley stage.  And returning duo, Delbert Walling and Haley Smith, will rock the Sylvan Courtyard stage with a mix of pop, indie and country tunes.

In addition to music, there is something for the whole family including fun balloons for the kids created by 3 Generations Twisters, and face-painting by Dee Dee the Clown and The Face Painting Robot at the Clocktower Courtyard.

In partnership with Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase, the Chelsea District Library’s Comedy Showcase features comic Jeff Nease at Katie’s Korner on the library lawn.  Nease has performed at premier clubs throughout the country and is known for his original, clever jokes delivered with a contagious energy that generates big laughs.

After Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights, SRSLY Cinema presents free outdoor movies at dusk. This week SRSLY kicks off the series with “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” (PG).
