Don’t miss the Strawberry Festival this Saturday at the Chelsea Farmers Market.

It gets underway at 9:30 a.m. when Kapnick’s strawberries are provided along with both biscuits and gluten-free biscuits and whipped cream until they run out. A suggested donation is $3.50 a serving.

The Strawberry Festival is a fundraiser for the Children’s Tent at the market, which will offer strawberry themed activities. It’s all about educating people about what’s in season through enjoyable activities.

There will also be a huge variety of plants and vegetables at Saturday’s market as well as fresh breads, cookies, muffins, and cakes.

Artisans will be selling paintings and pottery as well as wood carvings and bird houses.

The market is located at Palmer Commons on Main Street and runs from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

There will be musical entertainment this week from singer/songwriter Lilly MacPhee who offers soothing vocals, poetic lyrics, and delicate melodies.

There is a new regional (Chelsea, Grass Lake, Manchester and Stockbridge) food assistance program to help get healthy market food on the tables of those in need. It’s aimed at folks who don’t quite meet SNAP criteria. Be sure to inquire at the market.
