June 5: opening night of Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights

Sounds-and-Sights-on-Thursday-Nights-posterSounds and Sights on Thursday Nights kicks off its free summer concert series on Thursday, June 5 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Professional artists perform at 10 staged areas located throughout downtown Chelsea featuring music, dance, comedy, and family entertainment.

Celebrating its 10th season, Sounds and Sights showcases the talents of crowd favorites such as Spin Cycle, Creole Du Nord, Corndaddy and Mike Vial as well as welcomes new performances by The 1s and 2s and Salmagundai.

Interactive performance artists, Spontaneous Art, will infiltrate downtown in costume and create entertaining spectacles that alter routine daily life. Bystanders become part of the act as spectators jump in to help shape the direction of the skits.

There is something for everyone including Eric the Juggler, and balloon animals by 3 Generations Twisters for the kids.

The Chelsea District Library’s Comedy Showcase opens with standup comic Sean Kent on the Library lawn at Katie’s Korner.

In addition, visitors are able to interact with SculptureWalk Chelsea, a self-guided walking tour of 12 juried sculptures.

The Open Mic stage will be in a new location by Chelsea Alehouse Brewery at 420 N. Main Street.
