Chelsea Community Education is offering multiple opportunities to learn and play pickleball this winter.
Pickleball is an easy to learn sport raging in popularity and the Chelsea Pickleball Club is leading the charge locally, by tripling club memberships, and offering local programming that includes clinics and classes. These classes and league nights will give interested people a chance to learn and practice with others in an organized setting at the Chelsea Washington Street Education gym.
Bring your friends and meet new ones.
There will be evening clinics, one provided each winter month, on Thursday nights: Jan. 14, Feb. 8, March 14. Choose one date or all to get introduced to the game and learn to play. Players can also just signup for a Drill & Play session to improve the basic fundamentals. At the end of each clinic, players will be involved in group round robin games to practice their skills and have fun. Paddles and balls provided.
The LEARN TO PLAY classes will be offered 6-7 pm followed immediately by a DRILL & PLAY class 7-9 pm. You may choose both sessions or just one class to participate. All skill levels welcome.
Also new this year, Community Education will offer an evening League Night for Pickleball 7-9 pm on Monday nights starting Jan. 22. This 4-week league is designed for intermediate players or higher to compete against similar skilled players and be ranked each week with scores.
Winners will earn prizes at the end of the league and an instructor will be supervising the games.
You will not want to miss this opportunity to learn or practice this amazing fun game. Chelsea Pickleball along with the Huron Pathway Waterloo Initiative organization raised funds this summer to support the building of six new dedicated pickleball courts opening spring 2024 at Chelsea Timbertown Park.
This local club continues to do wonderful work in the community such as their recent Christmas fundraiser where they donated all proceeds to the St. Louis Center, Harper’s Toy Drive For Mott’s Children’s Hospital, and Chelsea SRSLY. They are based at the Chelsea Senior Center and play every weekday, mornings and afternoon. Come join the local pickleball club via the local senior center.
All Community Education classes will be led by PPR certified instructor, CSC pickleball program volunteer, Wolverine Pickleball Coach and USAPA District Ambassador Laura Ouellette. Contact her 734-358-0548 for questions. Come join the fun in 2024.
