Learn to preserve, restore old photos during free event

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Janet Ogle-Mater for the information in this story.)

How many of you have old photos sitting in scrapbooks, which you know should be preserved, or in some cases restored, but you don’t have a clue what to do or how to start?

My guess is a lot of you have cherished photos of family members and friends, but they are hidden in closets or stored in shoe boxes because you don’t know hoe to preserve them. If that’s the case, mark down this date, time and place on your calendar:  Monday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m., The Depot on Jackson St.

And plan to attend a free event brought to you by the Chelsea Area Historical Society (CAHS), which will get you started on how to restore your old photos. It features Michael Seabrook of Huron Camera, a digital photograph restoration expert, along with Kathy Clark, CAHS museum director. They will offer tips on how to restore and preserve old photos utilizing the CAHS photo collection as samples.

This free program is open to everyone, according to information from Janet Ogle-Mater, president of CAHS. And, for more information about the historical society or this event, click here or call 734-476-2010.
