Dear Editor:
Elections Matter.
As a lifelong resident of Chelsea, a Chelsea High School alum, and the parent of three children who went through Chelsea Public Schools, I have always been proud of our school system. The support our children received from both the administration and teachers demonstrated their commitment to educating our kids.
Communication was open and transparent, and I felt valued as a parent.
After attending a couple of School Board meetings over the last few months, I was surprised and disappointed at the overall lack of civility, as well as the frustration parents expressed in not having their concerns meaningfully addressed. While thankful this was not our experience with the school system, I wondered how parents, educators and the administration could move forward together to return the focus to education.
A key step in this process is to elect individuals to the School Board who are committed to working collaboratively toward this objective. Tom Golding is such an individual. As a father of four children who attended Chelsea Public Schools, Tom is aware of the concerns parents have and the need to be heard. As a successful business owner, he knows how to bring together and work with various stakeholders to achieve the goals.
Parents know and understand that we are responsible for raising our children; this includes their education. Now that I have a grandchild attending Chelsea Schools, I am thankful for individuals like Tom who are willing to commit their time and abilities to improving our schools.
Tom Golding has my vote this November.
