The Dexter Artisan Fair, on Saturday, March 22, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Creekside Intermediate School, will bring together favorite artists and crafters from the Pioneer Arts Fair and new vendors offering unique jewelry, functional artworks, and edibles.

The new fair is replacing the 40-year-old Pioneer Arts Fair as the spring fundraiser for the Dexter Area Historical Society.  All proceeds from the fair, including admission and booth fees help support the Dexter Area Museum.

Among the returning artists are Beverly Larsen, who makes “The Best Sox of Your Life” on an antique knitting machine, and Ardyth Paganone, who creates beautiful Ukrainian Easter eggs (Pysanky) as you watch.

Fans of Susan Falcone’s nature paintings and Rebecca Levenson’s painted silk scarves and jackets can look forward to new selections from their favorite vendors.

In fact, the new fair has attracted many new vendors. Among them is Josephine Page, who makes recycled fabric brooches, often in whimsical animal shapes.  Dan Erickson will bring turned wooden bowls that beautifully combine function with art.

Two Dexter artisans will offer locally made food items. Jane Fink will tempt you with delicious homemade granola and Jane Kelly will have pure maple syrup tapped from her own trees.

The school is at 2615 Baker Road in Dexter, and admission is $3 for adults and children through 8th grade are free when accompanied by an adult.
