The 7th annual Festival of Tables will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24 and will add a colorful spark to our Michigan winter.

This popular event will satisfy your imagination and your appetite. Admission fee is $20 and includes a delicious lunch and a chance to view 19 creatively decorated tables and vote for your favorite.

Of course, as a fundraiser, additional voting tickets may be purchased to “stuff the ballot box.”

The event this year returns to the Chelsea First United Methodist Church located at 128 Park St. in downtown Chelsea. Doors will open at 11 a.m. for viewing and voting on the different themed tables, with lunch served at noon. Advance reservations for the Saturday event are available starting Jan. 15 at the Chelsea Senior Center – be sure to purchase your admission early because this annual event sells out.

Once again, a Friday evening preview will be available from 5-7 p.m. for those unable to attend on Saturday or those who want more time to study all the creative details of each table.

The Friday evening preview is open to all and great for all ages. For only $1 per person at the door, come enjoy the Friday preview event with the whole family.

This year, all proceeds from the event will support the Meals on Wheels program coordinated by the Chelsea Senior Center (CSC). This critical program supports homebound seniors in Chelsea and Manchester providing over 20,000 nutritious meals annually and wellness checks by dedicated volunteers.

According to Gary Munce, CSC board president and event M.C. “This is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to come together and lend a helping hand to our friends and neighbors.”

There is a diverse lineup of local groups, businesses, and residents decorating tables with themes such as “Mary Poppins”, “Declaration of Independence”, “French Farmhouse”, and “Carousel Horses” to name a few.  Among those represented this year will be returning participants Chelsea District Library, Garden Mill, Chelsea Festivals, Material Girls, Adult Learners Institute, Gail Geer Calligraphy, St. Mary Bible Study Group, USArtquest, Chelsea Area Garden Club, Jewelry Set in Stone, and the CSC Crafters. Newcomers this year include Chelsea Chamber of Commerce, Chelsea Action, Strong Together Fitness, La Maison, Artisan Knitworks, Kitty and Company Interior Design, Hoola Jewelry, and CSC Travelers.
