Chelsea Community Cares (CCC) will hold their next public meeting at noon on May 1 at the Plaid Melon, 312 North Main St.

According to Susanne Vanden Bosch, the group’s administrator, the current agenda includes discussion about the Sinking Fund Renewal and Special Education Millage which will be on the May 3 ballot; township and city council positions that will be open for election in the near future; and plans for the new community center (related article is here.)

Additional topics may be introduced based on attendee interest.

It is requested that those interested in attending the May 1 meeting please RSVP by April 29 either here or by emailing [email protected].

Vanden Bosch said that the group’s meetings range from very informal to formal, depending upon the location and agenda.

CCC currently has nearly 470 members and can be found here. It is classified as a “closed group,” but anyone with a Chelsea connection who cares about the issues in the community may request membership.

CCC is a non-partisan grassroots group that exists for “… community members to discuss and address current issues that affect the community,” according to the Facebook page description. The primary guidelines are that topics “affect Chelsea directly, and that all members should communicate with the group and each other respectfully.”

Despite the membership requirement for the Facebook group, meetings are always open to the public.

“We discuss a wide variety of topics that affect Chelsea residents both online every day and in person at meetings,” said Vanden Bosch.
