(Chelsea Update would like to thank Laura Noble for the information in this story.)

We at the Trinh Pifer Intergenerational Garden invite the community to help plant a pollinator garden on Saturday, May 13 from 10-noon at the Chelsea Senior Center.

We are planting Chelsea’s first public pollinator life-cycle garden. This type of garden includes both pretty native flowers to attract bees and butterflies, and important, but often overlooked, native food plants for their very hungry offspring.

We are looking forward to this garden attracting lots of beneficial insects for kids of all ages to discover and learn about when they come visit the garden.

Maegen Gabriel, of Wild Cherry Farm, is spearheading this project, with support from a plant grant from the Washtenaw County Conservation District. She will be able to answer questions about plant choices and incorporating native plants into home landscapes.

Bring your family and make this a truly intergenerational experience at the Intergenerational Garden.

The garden is located west of the Chelsea Senior Center at 512 Washington Street. For more information about the garden and a map of its location, visit https://chelseaseniors.org/programs-activities/intergenerational-garden/
