Everyone is invited to the Chelsea Area Historical Society meeting on Monday, May 14, at 7 p.m. in the Chelsea Train Depot where there will be a special presentation.
“The Civil War – through the lasting words of a local resident who lived through it,” will be presented by Steven Rigoni of the Van Buren Historical Society.
He will present letters of Captain James Henry Wheaton.
Wheaton is buried at Oak Grove Cemetery, worked north of town and lived in Chelsea after moving with his mother from Grass Lake.
Rigoni will also speak about many local people from Chelsea.
