May 19: Home Season Opener for the Chelsea Monitor Base Ball Club

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Jon Van Hoek for the information in this story.)

The Monitor Base Ball Club of Chelsea will soon begin its 14th season playing baseball by the rules of 1860 here in town.

On Sunday, May 19, the Monitors welcome the Union Base Ball Club of Dexter for a lively match beginning at 1:00 pm at our home confines of Timber Town Park on Sibley Road.

All are invited to come enjoy the action. There is no charge for admission, just bring lawn chairs and some refreshments for yourself and enjoy a fun, dynamic glimpse into the beginnings of our nation’s pastime. Games are family-friendly, a great inter-generational unique attraction. Bring your kids, bring your parents, bring your neighbors.  Can’t beat the price, can’t beat the drive.

The team’s 2024 schedule features a home date each month, May through September, as well as plenty of exciting games around Michigan and beyond. Take a look at your summer calendar, and see if you can come cheer on the Chelsea gents this season as we attempt to turn back the clock and play like we were far younger than we are!  All the while representing our town with great sportsmanship and hustle.

We also host a weekly practice at Timber Town, open to anyone interested in trying their hand at the pastime. You won’t regret getting involved with this great group. Pick yourself a nickname (or we’ll pick one for you) and come join in the fun. Gents and ladies 18+ welcome.

To get involved, for questions about times and locations of 2024 matches, or if you’re interested in helping support our campaign by being a 2024 sponsor, please contact: [email protected] or call 248-930-6130.

For the love of the game.
