May 29-May 30: Silver Maples Hosts Annual ‘Whale of a Sale’ Rummage Sale

Silver Maples Retirement Neighborhood is thrilled to announce the return of its highly anticipated annual “Whale of a Sale” rummage event. Scheduled for Thursday, May 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Friday, May 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the sale promises an array of fantastic deals on a wide variety of items.

The event, held at 100 Silver Maples Dr. in Chelsea, will feature an extensive selection of donated goods generously contributed by residents, family members, and staff. From kitchen appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, and microwaves to electronics, housewares, furniture, books, movies, jewelry, shoes, arts, crafts, and more, there’s something for everyone at this bustling sale.

“Our ‘Whale of a Sale’ is a beloved tradition that brings our community together while offering incredible bargains to shoppers,” said Winn Nichols, director of programming & wellness at Silver Maples Retirement Neighborhood. “Not only does it provide an opportunity for residents to declutter and give back to the community, but it also supports a worthy cause.”

Proceeds from the sale will contribute to the Silver Maples Employee Scholarship Fund, which annually awards over $30,000 in scholarships to Silver Maples employees that are looking to advance their education. These employees commute from Grass Lake, Chelsea, Jackson, and Stockbridge areas.

“By participating in our rummage sale, patrons not only discover fantastic finds but also play a vital role in supporting local students pursuing their educational goals,” added JoAnne Reynolds, director of human resources.

The sale will operate on a cash-only basis, ensuring quick and hassle-free transactions for shoppers. Visitors can explore the diverse offerings and enjoy the satisfaction of contributing to their community while snagging remarkable deals.
