McCalla’s Feeds to host Wildlife Foodplot Seminar on Feb. 20

McCalla’s Feeds is hosting a free Wildlife Foodplot Seminar at the store on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m.

What’s a wildlife foodplot?

It’s a sustainable feed source for wildlife from deer to turkeys to other birds and wildlife — an area planted with things like clover, turnips, forage oats or bassica grass, for example.

Representatives from a seed company will teach interested people the tricks of planting an area properly the first time. From tilling and fertilizing to seeding and other tips and recommendations, the seminar will teach you how to attract wildlife to your property.

And, this area doesn’t have to be a large plot of land, it could be the size of a room to a 1/2 acre or more.

There will be a presentation and a question and answer session as well as refreshments such as grilled hotdogs, chili and chips.

In addition, McCalla’s will offer a coupon for 10 percent off the cost of a purchase of your choice of seed to seminar participants.

The store is located at 12875 Old US-12. For more information, click here or call 475-8153.
