Mitchell Brown breaks record, multiple state qualifiers in Beach swim team loss

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Dave Brinklow for the information in this story.)

The Beach Middle School Swim Team suffered its first defeat at home last night to a very tough Saline team, 110-60.

The Bulldogs still managed some incredible highlights, however. Mitchell Brown again broke his own school record in the diving event and is now an individual MISCA State Invitational qualifier in 5 events – with the addition of the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke last night.

Brown is also a member of two state invitational qualifying relays where he was joined by Connor Zatkovich, Jack Leissner, and Joseph Grudzinski on the 200 medley relay and with Leissner, Grudzinski and Easton Hodel on the 200 freestyle relay.

The girls had a great day as well qualifying all three relays, Jenna Ouellette in the 50 freestyle and Tallulah Gorby in the diving event. The medley relay team was Keygan Monahan, Trilian Krug, Emma Zachrich and Ouellete; the 200 freestyle relay was Ouellette, Caroline Knight, Monahan and Krug; and the 400 freestyle relay was Ouellette, Knight, Zachrich and Krug.

Other outstanding performances were turned in by Gus Alafita, Jarem Norwood, Haley Hopkins, Kai Ziolkowski, Addi Kennedy, Aiden Kidd, Lily Paddock, and Seren Angus.
