Motor City Brass Quintet to play at Silver Maples during concert series

Silver Maples of Chelsea welcomes back the Motor City Brass Quintet to the Kaleidoscope Concert series on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m.

Recently featured at The Tanglewood Music Festival in Massachusetts, the band has been noted for their ”creative vitality” and “seamless and highly music performances, according to a press release about the event.

The concert is held at Silver Maples, 100 Silver Maples Dr. All concerts are free, but tickets, available at the Chelsea Senior Center, are required.

The quintet features some of Detroit’s most creative and versatile brass musicians, including members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra, making the MCBQ an exciting addition to the diverse musical culture of Metropolitan Detroit.

The quintet’s members have taught at institutions including the University of Michigan, the University of Toledo, Grand Valley State University, and Albion College.

“We love the Motor City Brass Quintet,” said Shawn Personke, director of activities and public relations for Silver Maples of Chelsea in a press release.

“Not only are they incredible musicians, they are a lot of fun and have a great show,” she says. “They played here last spring, but also a couple of years ago for the Christmas-themed December concert. There’s nothing quite like the perfect coupling of brass instruments and holiday music.”

Originally funded by the Chelsea Community Foundation, the series is now funded through donations from community members and businesses. The December concert is sponsored by Ferguson & Widmayer, PC.
