New Lima Township Hall plans move forward

Lima Township Hall

The Lima Township Board met on Monday, July 13, and Supervisor Craig Maier informed the board that a committee will be narrowing down the field of prospective engineering and architectural candidates to work on the new township hall in the upcoming weeks. The committee’s recommendations will be shared with board members at the August meeting.

Maier reports that the township board did approve the Chelsea Area Fire Authority restated articles of incorporation.

He also said that Lima Township is one of the participating municipalities in Washtenaw County with a broadband task force, but he said the county pulled out as a fiduciary, which means any grant attempts won’t happen again until 2021.

“We would have received approximately $40,000 in equipment,” said Maier. “It will give us some time to get our new town hall going, which means the equipment could be installed right off the bat.”
