The Chelsea Education Foundation invites the community to raise a glass to literacy at the 4th Annual Sip at Serendipity Book Drive, on Nov. 12 from 6-8 p.m. at Serendipity Books, 119 S. Main St.
The event is an evening of wine, laughter, and giving back. Hosted at Serendipity Books, this beloved local event combines Chelsea’s passion for reading with its generous spirit of community support.
Every donation helps fill classrooms and libraries across the Chelsea School District with new books and learning resources.
This year’s event directly supports several innovative literacy initiatives in local schools, bringing lasting benefits to students of all ages. Funding will provide North Creek Elementary with six Big Book Stands for all first-grade classrooms, offering sturdy, safe displays for oversized ELA books that promote early literacy and a love of reading. Chelsea High School (English Department) will receive a new collection of contemporary memoirs that will form the foundation of a brand-new reading unit, fostering empathy, critical thinking, and meaningful discussion in the classroom.
It will also fund the Read Unplugged – No Phone. Just Stories initiative at CHS, to transform the school’s no-phone policy into an opportunity to rekindle reading habits and build authentic, screen-free connections among students.
In partnership with the Chelsea District Library, this event will also help fund Authors in Chelsea, a long-standing program that brings award-winning authors to local classrooms for workshops and public events, inspiring young writers and readers alike.
Chelsea Education Foundation is thankful for the support provided by this year’s Literacy Leader Sponsors – Chelsea Area Players, DC Side Street Garage, Hardwood Solutions, Silver Maples of Chelsea, and Zarminali Pediatrics.
Donations can be made online at www.chelseaeducationfoundation.org/events or during the event as you join us for an evening of fine wine, community connection, and the joy of supporting Chelsea students—one book at a time.
