The Washtenaw County Road Commission is expected to close McKinley Road to all traffic at the Mill Lake Drain located north of Chelsea for a bridge replacement and in Chelsea, the city has planned several road projects.

The Road Commission with replace the existing structure with a new bridge, and the construction is expected to take about three weeks.

The detour will be Dewey Street, M-52, Werkner Road and Waterloo Road. Local traffic will be maintained for properties adjacent to the closed portion of McKinley Road; however traffic is prohibited through the construction area.

Please be advised that due to weather conditions, all dates are tentative and subject to change.

In the city,  street maintenance projects are planned for Flanders, Wenley and Jefferson streets beginning on Oct. 1.

It’s expected that the work will take about three weeks to complete, and C and D Hughes, of Charlotte, Mich., will perform the following work.

Flanders Street – “Areas of full depth pavement patching, minor curb replacements, minor storm sewer repairs, sidewalk ramp upgrades, removal and replacement of top layer of pavement,” according to the city’s website.

Wenley Street – Areas of full depth pavement patching, small area of sidewalk replacement, sidewalk ramp upgrades, application of pavement sealant, the website says.

Jefferson Street – Areas of full pavement patching, sidewalk ramp upgrades, removal and replacement of top layer of pavement, the website says.

During these maintenance projects, there will be temporary road closures.

  1. I wonder why people always put an “s” on the end of Flander
St.? It’s even in Google Earth but if you scroll down to
Street View and look at the street sign you won’t see an
“s.” Regardless of the name both Flander and Wenley are
    badly in need of repair.
