Spend the first day of October at the Chelsea Saturday Farmers Market.

The bounty of the autumn season will be evident as soon as you arrive. There will be plenty of colorful fruits, vegetables, and flowers to buy.

Apple lovers will appreciate a variety of apples for sale along with apple cider. Pears, plums, raspberries, and grapes will also be available.

Tomatoes and corn, zucchini and squash, green beans, peppers, onions, beets, eggplant, and plenty of pumpkins will be there as well.

You’ll also find honey, eggs, and seasonings along with fresh baked goods including breads, cakes, cookies, and muffins.

The market is located at Palmer Commons on Main Street and runs from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

This week’s music will be provided by Scott Thacher.

There is a regional (Chelsea, Grass Lake, Manchester and Stockbridge) food assistance program to help get healthy market food on the tables of those in need. It’s aimed at folks who don’t quite meet SNAP criteria. Be sure to inquire at the market.
