(Chelsea Update would like to thank Arly Spink for the information in this story.)

Meet author and former pastor of First Congregational United Church of Christ Rev. Dr. Barbara Edema at a special book reading on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. at the church.

This local author wrote a delightful book about life in the small town of Cherish, Mich. (You may recognize “Cherish” as Chelsea.)

Books will be available at the reading for purchase for $15. They can also be ordered on Amazon.com

At 7 p.m., introduction of the book, short book reading, question and answer time.

At 7:30 p.m., refreshments and book signing at the church, 121 E. Middle St.
Edema has been a pastor for over 20 years. To Love and To Cherish is her first novel and was inspired by her experiences of parish life in a small town.

In addition to countless sermons and a weekly blog, Barb is the author of three plays, all of which have been performed in Chelsea. She lives in DeWitt with her husband and an assortment of cats.

To Love and To Cherish is the story of Pastor Maggie, a young pastor at Loving the Lord Church on Middle Street in Cherish (Chelsea), Michigan. Maggie’s first year of ordained ministry takes us on a journey of love, laughter, trials, tears, and redemption. She has just finished writing her second book in the Pastor Maggie series: To Have and To Hold.
