The Righteous Mind: Why Good People are Divided by Politics and Religion by Jonathan Haidt explores what is behind the strong opinions we hold, why we think our arguments and beliefs are so different from others and why we find it so hard to get along.
As the election-related arguments heat up, One World One Family has organized a Community Read of Haidt’s book. The book is divided into three parts and the final discussion will be Tuesday, Oct. 15 on Zoom from 7 to 8:30 pm. Part III is Chapters 9-12. You don’t have to have read the earlier sections to participate.

Copies of the book are available at Serendipity Books and OWOF has a few to lend. Contact OWOF at owofchelsea@gmail.com
If you want to join us but don’t have the time to read, a good summary video is here.
Since 2012, Haidt has referred to himself as a political centrist. He is involved with several efforts to help bridge the political divide and reduce political polarization in the United States. He is currently the Thomas Cooley Professor of Ethical Leadership, based in the Business and Society Program at the New York University Stern School of Business.
