Oct. 20: Purple Martin Conservation Program at the Discovery Center

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Patrick Muldoon for the information in this story and the Waterloo Natural  History Association for sponsoring it.)

PURPLE MARTIN CONSERVATION:  2:00 – 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 20 at the Discovery Center.

What’s so appealing about North America’s largest swallow? Their populations have declined 24% since 1970.  Join Doug Jackson, Michigan Master Naturalist, to learn how humans have been both helping and hurting conservation efforts. He’ll discuss how and why you can (and should) help with Purple Martin, and other bird, conservation.

Program geared to ages 10 to adult. Cost: $2/person or $5/family with State Recreation Passport. Program will be held at the Eddy Discovery Center, 17030 Bush Road in the Waterloo Recreation Area in Sylvan Township.

Program limited to 30 people.  Call to reserve a space at 734-475-3170.
