Oct. 22: Community Forum at Arctic Breakaway about the CAFA Millage Proposal on Nov. 4 Ballot

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Patrick Zieske for the information in this story.)

There will be a community forum held on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 6:30 p.m. at the Arctic Breakaway banquet room upstairs, 501 Coliseum Dr., Chelsea, with Q & A to discuss the Chelsea Area Fire Authority ballot proposal to increase the fire millage rate by 0.75 mill.

In response to the need for better understanding of the issue, so that voters may make an informed decision, representatives from both the Chelsea Area Fire Authority and Huron Valley Ambulance will be available to answer questions.

The two organizations have taken opposing positions on the matter.  Initial questions will be asked by a moderator; with follow-ups from residents in attendance. It is hoped that we may also have time for discussion among attendees.

Pizza will be provided, but possibly in a limited quantity depending on how many people attend. People may also order additional food or refreshments from the Breakaway.

The event arose out of a discussion on the online “freesylvan” group, which is dedicated to open dialog among Sylvan Township residents. As such, it serves our broader purpose.  However, the community forum on Oct. 22 is open to all residents in the CAFA service area, up to the capacity of the room.

Please contact Patrick Zieske at [email protected] or 734-389-8880 for more information or questions about the event.
