The 8th annual Harvest Art Market will take place Saturday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Silver Maples of Chelsea, 100 Silver Maples Dr. The event is free and open to everyone.

“The Harvest Art Market has grown and evolved over the past eight years,” Shawn Personke, director of wellness and public relations for Silver Maples, said. “But we’ve stayed true to our original thought that we wanted the show to offer really interesting items, handmade, and fair prices. So that’s the kind of artist we welcome and who finds the most success.”

This year’s show features six new artists, including Philadelphia artist Sandy Crump, whose bead designs offer “simplicity with a dash of sparkle,” and ACME Market‘s funky cool vintage wares. The show welcomes back two popular artists from 2013: Stephen Cain and his beautiful wood creations and Chelsea artist Michelle Friss and her festive buntings.

“Each year we seek out a couple of new artists and this year we specifically wanted to add something different,” Personke said. “We’re really excited about these new artists. They are an integral part of art fairs all over Michigan (and beyond) and clearly love what they are doing.”

Personke said that the timing is good again this year. “There’s another big show in town that day. But we’re completely different shows, so I think it provides people with two great art opportunities.”
