Paint Chelsea Pink charity hockey game Sept. 8

Firefighters Scott Basar, Lance Baird “duke it out” with Police officers Brian Schneider and Tom Gilbreath.

Mark your calendar for the “Guns vs. Hoses” charity hockey game that benefits Paint Chelsea Pink.

The hockey game will take place on Sept. 8 from 5-8 p.m. at the Arctic Coliseum in Chelsea, which donated the rink time.

Firefighter Lance Baird and a special Teddy Bear.

Chelsea Firefighter Lance Baird, who is organizing the event, encourages everyone to bring the family for fun prizes and raffle tickets. The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for children 5-12 years and kids 4 years and younger are free.

Plus, W-4 Country will be broadcasting live from the event.

Chelsea Area firefighters expected to play are Scott Basar, event coordinator, A.J. Ellwein, Bill Rignier, Auggie Syrovy, Eric Stanley, Colt White and Baird. Players on the cop side will come from across the county, and all proceeds from the special hockey game will help defray costs of putting on Paint Chelsea Pink, Baird said.

Pink Chelsea Pink is a city-wide, breast cancer benefit for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation of Mid-Michigan, which will take place Sept. 29 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. throughout the city.

“It’s not too late to become a sponsor,” said Basar, an organizer of the event, and the costs range from $100 to $500.

Passports for the Paint Chelsea Pink event are $25 and are on sale now at www.paintchelseapink.org as well as on the day of the event.

Also plan to attend “The Pink Party,” which will take place after the event at Chelsea Lanes for those 21 years and older. There will be live music and cocktails.

If you’d like to get involved as a volunteer or sponsor, you can call 475-8755 or email Basar at [email protected].

All in the name of fun. Firefighters vs. Cops charity hockey game Sept. 8.
