I voted at about 10 a.m. Tuesday morning at Sylvan Township Hall  and was No. 94 where a steady stream of voters were seen casting their choices on 2014 primary election ballots, which include a number of candidates as well as two ballot questions — one a statewide proposal and a second local proposal for a millage increase for the Chelsea District Library.

If you have not voted, please take the time to do so as the polls are open until 8 p.m. tonight.

In Sylvan Township, there were 254 absentee ballots sent to voters and at 8 a.m. Tuesday, 225 ballots had been returned. There are a total of 2,516 registered voters in the township.

In Chelsea, there was also a steady stream of voters going in and out of the Washington Street Education Center building. Clerk Laura Kaiser mailed out 400 absentee ballots and in precinct 1, there were a total of 261 ballots mailed out and 232 had been returned.

In precinct 2, absentee ballots numbered 190, which had been mailed out and 175 had been returned.

Chelsea has a total of 4,287 registered voters.

Chelsea Update is following the library millage vote in this election where there are a total of 12,672 registered voters in the library district that includes the City of Chelsea and the townships of Dexter, Lima, Lyndon and Sylvan.

I’ll be following the results of this local ballot question as votes are posted by the county throughout the night.
