Publisher’s message: a happy 2018 update

It’s official. Buzz is a Rally Master. And, was the second dog in the country to achieve this title making history.

As you’ve probably noticed, there hasn’t been as much news on Chelsea Update the last couple of weeks while I heal from my surgery on Dec. 21.

The good news is, I am now rapidly improving each day and am able to actually sit and work for longer periods of time without discomfort. The walking and lounging in the LaZBoy was fine; the sitting on an office chair, not so much.

But, I’m almost there, so, bring on the Chelsea City Council meeting Monday night and all the other wonderful people and events that make Chelsea such a great community in 2018. I’m ready to head out into the wild to cover them.

What I didn’t report during my recovery was that the day before I had my surgery, I got some very exciting personal news. Buzz, who you may remember finished his Rally Master title back in November, did, indeed, finish as one of the first dogs in the country to achieve this new American Kennel Club title. Goal accomplished.

In fact, he was the second dog in the entire country to attain this title, and along the way the first Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. I have taken a photo of the mail he received as proof of his earning this title and an inquiry to AKC confirmed where he finished in the country-wide pecking order.

So, Chelsea, you have a history-maker in your midst, but don’t tell Buzz that. He might want more time snoozing curled up in my lap or more tummy ribs than he already receives, which would take away from my time covering Chelsea.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes along the way for not only achieving this crazy goal I set for Buzz and me, but also for understanding my fears heading into surgery and your patience while I recovered.

I’d also like to thank the following people for their recent donations to my efforts with Chelsea Update. They are so, so appreciated and allow me to be able to devote myself full-time to your community news publication. Please remember these donations are not tax deductible. If you’d like to support my efforts you can send a check made out to Chelsea Update in any amount and mail it to 18829 Bush Road, Chelsea, MI 48118 or you can donate through Paypal on the site.

  1. Congratulations to Buzz, and to you. This win is a team effort. I’m so glad to hear that you’re healing more and more each day.
